Wartner® for the removal of warts & verrucas

What are warts & verrucas?

A common skin infection

Warts & verrucas are the most common types of skin infections. They are a harmless growth in the top layer of the skin caused by the human papilloma-virus (HPV). The virus stimulates the skin cells to multiply rapidly. They are very contagious and to prevent them from spreading, treatment should be done immediately.

  • About 1 out of 5 families was confronted with warts in the household in the past 2 years [1]:
  • Key factors driving infection are damaged skin, personal predisposition and a weakened immune system [2].
  • About 10% of children (2-12years) have warts, rising to 15-20% at the age of 16-18 years [3].

Common warts & verrucas are the 2 most frequent types:

Common warts are usually found on the hands, knees and elbows and are recognised by the rough “cauliflower-like” appearance of the surface.
Verrucas are very similar but mainly appear on the sole of the foot, heels or toes and tend to be much flatter in appearance, sometimes covered by callous skin.
